NEW HOMES AWARDS 2007 WINNER!
Excert taken from City Life Magazine
Firstly, I would like congratulate Guy Phoenix and Alchemy for their success at the New Homes Awards earlier this summer. Pretty much cleared up, winning every category nominated for and complemented with the honour of overall winner. Fantastic achievement and well done!
Guy says his success has come quickly after all Alchemy is a relatively new company, still learning all sthe time. Incredible achievement in such a short space of time.
'We build few homes but all at the higher end of the market. All are finished to the very highest standard, like Ferrari make much fewer cars than Ford. All are hand finished and each individual car is special. My homes are all different and special in their own right. I try to maintain a neutral theme that appeases everyone. Focal points within the homes are usually centred around a specific feature or by using unusual, dramatic lighting.
I love water and light and together they can be very effective. Whether it be a sunken swimming pool, shark tank or glass top Jacuzzi, all are statements and set a presence within that room'.
Guy is an extremely enthusiastic young man of 33,easily excitable and you can see how his properties reflect his personality.
Alchemy properties are created in an unconventional way. The design process is brought about by progress, initial ideas and continuous change. Obviously the external plan is followed to the letter however, design subject to continuous change 'this makes life difficult for the engineers and my lads, as changing during construction much reach the more vigorous safetys regulations, after all its all about the finished product, design and overall quality of finish. I have built a fantastic team and most of my lads have been with me from the beginning. Everyone gets to voice an opinion and input to the project. Advice is free and you can either take it or leave it!
The support from the team is shown when some of the most outrageous ideas are put forward, their job ,of which they do extremely well, is to make it happen with as little friction as possible. I have plans to begin construction in the South of France next year as well as continuing to build beautiful, different homes in Nottingham'.
Guy's first objective is strangely enough not to earn as much money from a job as possible but to be completely satisfied with the end results. Guy says his lifestyle follows a simple procedure, work very hard and play very hard. Of course lifestyles can be deceptive, socially they never see you work and work colleagues never see you play however, anybody self employed will understand that at five o'clock when the mixer ceases to turn the pressure does not end, paperwork and legals play such an enormous part in the development of such extravagance.
Guy is currently working on a property in Mapperley Park, features include stunning open plan layout over three floors, sunken lagoon entrance, elevator and waterfalls. Although this property is at a very early stage it will no doubt be one of the most stunning homes the county has to offer. Completion expected March 2008, available at a guide price of £1.5million.
